2012 Funding Priorities
The Williamsburg Community Health Foundation works to strengthen access to quality health services and promote responsible health practices in the Greater Williamsburg region. It supports this mission through two kinds of grants:
- Responsive grants address community health needs identified by nonprofit organizations. The responsive grant process, which is open to all nonprofit organizations, asks applicants to identify a community health issue, quantify the need, and propose solutions.
- Foundation-directed grants help the community address broad issues that often involve a number of partners. The Foundation continually collaborates with community organizations to discuss these kinds of needs and develop long-term solutions. Only nonprofits invited to apply for foundation-directed funding may do so.
The Foundation defines health broadly: It is a dynamic state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. It is not merely the absence of disease or infirmmity.
Our grants support a wide variety of projects. They expand access to care, eliminate barriers, address health care disparities, encourage healthy environments, and promote personal responsibility.
