The Professional Development Grants program is designed to promote agency professional development to build organizational capacity. Scholarships of up to $2,500 will be awarded to agencies for use to attend a conference or workshop, or for another professional development opportunity. Priority will be given to requests that will enhance the capacity of your agency to provide ongoing financial support. Funds can be used for conference/workshop registration fees, travel, lodging and subsistence for staff and volunteers. Please note that travel and lodging expenses must be reasonable. The Foundation may ask the agency to find other reasonable accommodations. Other opportunities include in-house staff and volunteer training expenses. The Foundation will award no more than two professional development grants to an agency per year. Each application should include a request for only one conference, workshop, or other professional development opportunity.
To qualify for grant consideration during 2008, agencies should submit an application ONLINE at any time, but no later than, Tuesday, November 25, 2008. The decision, notification, and check distribution will take 4-6 weeks from the time the application is submitted.
Successful participants will be required to submit a one page written summary detailing the experience and describing how agency capacity was increased, resulting in better services to residents in Williamsburg and surrounding counties.
