The Williamsburg Community Health Foundation has worked thoughtfully and diligently on the development of a Strategic Plan (please click for Strategic Plan Summary) for 2007 – 2011. It was accomplished through a comprehensive research and review process led by a Strategic Plan Task Force with input from the full Board of Trustees. By listening and obtaining community input in a variety of ways, such as grantee site visits and progress reports, a chronic care survey and a survey of physicians and community leaders, the Foundation compiled data defining the health care market we serve and identified critical issues in health care that might be addressed.
We are pleased to share with you the following overview of the strategic plan and restated Mission and Vision statements recently approved by our Board of Trustees. Through the strategic planning process, the Task Force created a stronger vision statement and an action focused mission statement that clarifies who we are and who we wish to serve. This strategic plan reflects the Board’s desire for the Foundation to be more proactive in identifying relevant issues for our communities and initiating projects to address the priorities.
Between 2007 and 2011, the funding amount for the competitive grant cycle will decrease as the amount of the Foundation Directed projects will increase. Examples of Foundation Directed projects are the current Chronic Care initiative, Children's Behaviorial Health Initiative, and the School Health Initiative. We will continue to invite community proposals in identified needs through the competitive grant process. The priorities will be communicated in the grant guidelines.
